The Founder's Story

It started with a phone call.
I'd been in marine detailing for years, working with a partner under a different business name. When that chapter ended, I hadn't planned on continuing. Then a client called. When I told him I was no longer with the company, he asked, "so, do you still want to do it?"
That question started Nautically Nice.
What began as a detailing business became something I've poured myself into since. A chalky hull restored to a mirror finish. Weathered teak, caramel-coloured and smooth again. Every boat in better shape when the job was done.
Eventually, my body reached a point where I had to step back. I'm 5 feet tall and 115 pounds, and my work was about as physical as it gets. Up and down ladders, bending and crawling under boats, waxing, sanding, painting. The work was hard, but seeing the finished work gave me that feeling of things being just right. So I turned it into a lifestyle.
The sound of the engine at full throttle, cruising across the water or along the open road. The boat heeled over, cutting through the chop, cool spray against your cheek. The perfect swing that perfectly connects, ball soaring beyond the hazard and onto the green. Crossing the finish line first, after pouring your heart into every part of getting there. The moment you look in the mirror and...feel right.
I'm not a fashion person. I chose our first products because I loved the colour palette. I ordered a medium hoodie for my husband to try on first. I know unisex sizing is made for an average-height man. If it fit him well, I'd know the sizing was accurate. When I pulled it out of the box, the softness of the fabric made me want to try it on. Then something unexpected happened. It draped beautifully, and actually showed my silhouette. I fell in love and claimed it immediately. I never thought I could wear a unisex medium hoodie without feeling like I was wearing my husband's clothing.
The tee was even softer. And knowing these pieces are sustainably manufactured through an eco-friendly process, with zero wastewater, made choosing them even easier.
Personally, I want to put this brand to work, exacting change that matters. On a scale larger than any one of us. Not in ways you only read about, but in ways that are seen and felt. When you buy from us, you become a philanthropist, too.
We're just getting started.
